Joining Hearts & Hands: Pack to Give Back 2021
Perhaps more than any other year, Maryland families are looking forward to gathering together this holiday season to make memories over a shared meal. And since the start of the pandemic, one thing has been clear in Maryland — neighbors stand up to help their neighbors in need.
That’s why local businesses are so eager to support Pack to Give Back, the Maryland Food Bank’s annual effort to give thousands of Maryland families the opportunity to come together for a holiday meal. Companies like Guinness, who is not only the 2021 Pack to Give Back Presenting Sponsor, but has graciously offered space at their Open Gate Brewery in Halethorpe on Friday, November 5 for the hundreds of passionate volunteers who will help pack some of the 25,000 holiday meal boxes being prepared for hungry Marylanders.
“After having participated in Pack to Give Back last year, we’re very proud to host the event his year. It’s such an amazing, important initiative that has real tangible impacts for families in the communities around the brewery,” said Oliver Gray, marketing manager at the Guinness Brewery. “The Maryland Food Bank is one of our longest standing partners, so it only seems right to physically bring the partnership together, and more importantly, come together to help our fellow Marylanders.”
For more than a decade, Pack to Give Back has been the area’s premier corporate volunteer experience during the holiday season, offering Maryland businesses the opportunity to strengthen local communities through a hands-on volunteer project.
In addition to Presenting Sponsor Guinness, we’re thrilled to welcome M&T Bank and Enterprise as Gold Sponsors this year. Additionally, longtime food bank friend Transamerica is once again supporting this event as a Silver Sponsor, while Coca-Cola, Giant Food, Marriner Marketing, PepsiCo, The Shelter Foundation, and United Concordia Dental join us as Bronze Sponsors. We’re also thankful that the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles, and Nexxis Solutions are helping us spread hope throughout the state.
“While everyone is starting to feel a little bit more hopeful as we continue to recover from the pandemic, the truth is, up to 1 in 3 Marylanders may continue to need help to keep good, nutritious food on their tables,” said MFB’s President & CEO Carmen Del Guercio. “Working with these great corporations to lighten the load on families, especially at this time of year, is a rewarding and humbling experience.”
